Collaboration Folders are a new type of folder in your Box.net account. They are folders that you allow other Box users to access. Any change you make to the folder’s contents will be instantly visible to the folder’s collaborators (i.e. Box users you have given access the folder); similarly, any changes collaborators make will be instantly visible to you. Collaboration Folders allow you to share information across any number of Box accounts, and to share multiple folders with a given person on an ongoing basis.
How do I set up a Collaboration Folder?
Any folder in your Box.net account can be a Collaboration Folder. To make an existing folder a Collaboration Folder, right-click on the folder and select ‘Invite Collaborators’. A pop-up window will appear. Enter the email addresses of the individuals you would like to collaborate with (i.e. grant access to the folder). NOTE: This must be the email address your collaborators have used to register for their Box.net accounts. Please verify this before you proceed. Once you have entered them all, click ‘OK’, and email notifications will be sent to those individuals. Once they log into their Box account, they will be able to accept or reject your invitation to collaborate on that folder.
When a folder becomes a Collaboration Folder, its icon changes: rather than being a plain, yellow folder, it becomes a blue folder with a small image of two people on it. All collaboration folders will automatically appear at the top of your files list in your account.
How do I know who is collaborating on a folder?
When you open a Collaboration Folder, a list of collaborators is visible at the bottom of the page (you may need to scroll down to see it; it appears at the end of the file list).

What kinds of permissions can I set for collaborators?
When you grant an individual access to a Collaboration Folder, you can choose to make them either a collaborator or a viewer. A collaborator can change (add, edit, delete) the folder’s contents; a viewer can only see the contents, not change them (i.e. read-only access).
How do I change these permissions, or remove a user?
You can change these permissions at any time from inside the Collaboration Folder. (Note: Only the folder’s creator can change its users’ permissions). When a Collaboration Folder is open, a list of all collaborators is visible at the bottom of the page. Each of these email addresses has a small downward arrow next to it. Click on that arrow to access a drop-down menu. From it, you can select whether that individual is a collaborator or a viewer, or opt to remove them from the folder.
