Creating a Global Folder
To use this feature simply locate a folder on your root folder(the default view of the ‘All Files’ page) and click on the little blue button with the white downward arrow associated with the folder to select ‘Properties/Rename.’

On the small pop-up window navigate to the ‘Access Level’ tab and select the radio button next to ‘Global.’  Within the provided text field next to ‘http://www.box.net/’ enter your desired custom name and then click ‘Okay.’ .

By default, your newly created Global Folder will be set to ‘Open’ which will allow anyone accessing the link to join your folder as a ‘Collaborator.’ To adjust this setting please see the 'Membership Type' section below.

Membership Type
To change the membership type of your Global Folder simply locate the folder and  click on the little blue button with the white downward arrow associated with the folder and select ‘Properties/Rename.’  On the small pop-up window navigate to the ‘Advanced’ tab and select the radio button next to ‘Closed.' Viewers accessing your Global Folder link will no longer be able to join as a Collaborator.
