‘Tasks’ is one of Box.net’s latest workflow tools to help you create, assign and manage tasks related to individual files. This feature will allow you to assign a task to yourself, and/or your Collaborators. **Currently, Tasks can only be created by Business account holders.
Creating a Task
Click on the little blue box with the white downward arrow next to the file and select ‘Create New Task.’

A small pop-up window will appear.
Editing a Task
Only the creator of the task can edit the task. To edit the task simply locate the file associated with the task and click on ‘Task(s)’ shown next to the file to expand the task menu. There you will be able to view all the task(s) associated with the file. Click on ‘Edit task’ to make changes to the task.
Completing a Task
If you have been assigned a task you will receive an email notification, to go directly to the task please click on the link provided in the message. Additionally, you will see task notices on the ‘Pending Items’ side menu shown on the ‘All Files’ page and the ‘Updates’ page. Clicking on the notices will take you directly to the task. **Please note that you will automatically become a collaborator of the folder where the file is located upon accessing the task within Box.net. Click on the ‘Review’ button and a small pop-up window will appear.

There you will be able to use the drop down menu to provide the assignor with feedback on the status of the task. Additionally, you may use the ‘Feedback’ box to provide additional comments. To complete the action click ‘Submit.’
Declining a Task
To decline a task, simply use the pending items menu or the link shown on the notification email to navigate to the task. Once there, click the orange ‘x’ shown to the right of the task description.

Select a task type from the ‘Select task type:’ drop down menu. There is a ‘Custom Instructions’ task type which is only available to Business accounts. On the next comment field, add a brief description of your task to help the recipient understand your task. Lastly, enter the name of the collaborators who you would like to have complete the task. You can also select the box next to ‘me’ to assign the task to yourself. When applicable, check the box next to ‘Everyone else in this folder,’ to assign the task to all of the Collaborators within the blue folder automatically. Click ‘Okay’ to complete and assign your task. **Please note that all recipients of task will be automatically added as a collaborator to the folder where the task is located. If a Collaborator does not have an account they will be invited to join Box.net to complete your task.
