BOX.NET LAUNCHES BoxEDU PLATFORM

BoxEDU Provides Online Storage and Collaboration Tools to Students, Professors, Faculty Members

Palo Alto, Calif. — (August 5, 2008) — As a result of the significant increase in demand from academia, Box.net today announced the launch of BoxEDU for students and educators. BoxEDU gives faculty and students alike tools to store and manage content online, providing an easy-to-use solution for accessing and collaborating on data files securely and effectively.

Students, professors and educators with a valid.edu email address can get a free 1GB BoxEDU account at www.box.net/edu As an introductory incentive, people who sign up for a BoxEDU account by October 15, 2008 will automatically be upgraded to a free Plus 2GB account (a $25 value).

BoxEDU was designed to meet the particular demands of academic organizations and to give students and educators a secure solution to share, manage and collaborate on the high volume of data inherent to this community, without the risk of losing data. Intuitive and easy-to-use, BoxEDU has powerful capabilities that can be used to:

  • Access important files from any location – classroom, office, library or home – no software to download
  • Share any file or folder with anyone – simply by sending a link
  • Organize and collaborate on class projects, research documents or study guides
  • Distribute and collect assignments online in a central location
  • Read, grade and comment on papers – right in your Internet browser

"Through BoxEDU, we give students, and educators a free way to share, collaborate and safeguard their files online, said Aaron Levie, CEO, Box.net.  "Thousands of university students and professors are currently using Box to enhance their educational experience with regard to their most important asset—their work product."
