Box.net Announces Full-Text Search for Business Customers
Business customers can search the full-text of Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, Web Document files

Palo Alto, Calif. (PRWEB) March 24, 2009 — Box.net, an online collaboration tools provider, today announced the addition of full-text search capabilities for Box business customers. Full-text search provides users with more relevant and complete search results, based on text within any text document including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDFs, TXT and CSV files. Box.net began rolling out full-text search to select Box business customers today. And in coming weeks, full-text search will automatically be available to every Box business customer within minutes of uploading a document.

For businesses that put their file system on Box, as more than 50,000 businesses already do, they will have a complete solution for searching in-depth content and metadata across all their files without the added cost, complexity and pre-set document limits of other enterprise search solutions.

"We want to make it easy for customers to find the content they need, and we don't think it should be complicated or expensive," said Aaron Levie, CEO of Box.net. "The addition of full-text search helps make Box an unbeatable solution for businesses that want a platform for effective collaboration on all their content without the headaches of SharePoint."

"By adding essential search capabilities, Box.net is going to become much more useful as a collaboration environment," said Geoffrey Bock, senior analyst for collaboration at the Gilbane Group. "Work groups and business teams are now going to have another easy way to find the shared documents they're working on, even though they might not know the folders in which they are stored."
